The Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec (CHUQ) is a prime example of how applying the ECA-PTM to nursing methods improves the quality of care. In partnership with Hospitalis, the care methods developed by CHUQ nurse clinicians were transposed onto the ECA-PTM platform, thereby creating a practical and educational guide specifically designed for nursing staff. Operational since January 2008, this guide includes 260 care methods. The ECA-PTM provides 2300 nurses with user-friendly access, and offers:

• knowledge validation (self-test);
• instant update dissemination;
• user profile management (consultation statistics);
• support for care skills improvement.

By giving healthcare professionals and students access to the formalized know-how, this joint achievement by Hospitalis, SOVAR and the CHUQ has made it possible to ensure both the sustainability of the nursing best practices learned, as well as the quality of care provided. Because the solution is intuitive, less time is wasted searching for the “right” care method, which leaves more time to spend with clients.
